SPRING FORWARD, FALL BACK. NOT SO FAST, PARD!

NOT HERE. IT’S TOO HOT!

Why doesn't Arizona observe daylight-saving time?

The short answer: The last thing Arizona needs to save is daylight. On a July day when the high is 114 degrees, do you really want the sun hanging around until 8:40 p.m.? I don't think any of us did..

WE HAD IT, THEN WE DIDN’T!

The real tussle began with the Uniform Time Act of 1966. The following year, daylight-saving became permanent.

States could opt out, but Arizona took part that first summer and realized that late sunsets were not cool (literally). Didn’t take long to learn things the hard way.

In 1968, Arizona politicians may well have set a record for nearly unanimous agreement.

The House voted 49-1, and the Senate 25-3, to boot daylight-saving. That sort of agreement will never happen again.

So while almost all of the rest of CONUS fumbled with their various timepieces, we wise folks in Arizona DID NOTHING.

Every year I say we should stop this change-the-clocks nonsense. It's not needed and adjusting to the time change is always a pain in the butt. The last two days I woke up at 4:05am instead of right after 5.  Ugh.

Florida passed a law to observe daylight saving time year round, but we need the approval of Congress to implement it.  So far, nothing!.
