My New Outside Blog: An Economic Indicator, at least for Tucson AZ

An Economic Indicator, at least for Tucson AZ

An economic indicator…

At least for Tucson AZ.

One way you can tell it’s much slower for newcomers moving here ( my main customer base) is to go to the Department of Motor Vehicles. I went yesterday to renew my driver’s license. I had not been there for 5 years. I expected the usual packed parking lot and long, long lines.

Here’s what I found. No full parking lot. No long lines. No out of state cars being inspected. Nothing. It was like I had entered the Twilight Zone.

I brought a book to read. Got through TWO pages before my number was called.

In just five years the world as we knew it has changed, at least at the DMV. Wow.

It is a wonderful time for home buyers to take advantage of the available opportunities. Many are still seeking the ideal retirement location. In Maryland, many home sales that were previously deferred will now go on the market as prices begin to rise and the inventory goes down.

Jon -  I have some clients that bought a second home in Tucson.   They love it there.  Say it get's them out of the rat race of city life.  I dread those FULL days at the DMV in Albuquerque!  I actually pay to go to the Express DMV in and out in half hour.

Jon, I'll have to swing by my local DMV and check this out.  We get so spoiled here in AZ because we don't have to renew our licenses all that often.

Well Jon, it appears you are not just a great buyer's agent but also a detective!  I'm hoping for you that the DMV is just getting more efficient verses less people moving there.

All the best to you on this beautiful Sunday!

Julie...when you are my age you have to renew every five years. Sigh.

DeeDee...Less efficient here would have to be an oxymoron. is your DMV these days. I like the idea of your express lane, although, after the other day here, they'd go broke!
