This Desert Life: Mountain lion chases bobcat up 45' saguaro cactus - AMAZING photos!!!

Sharon posted this about a month ago, and since the photos were so well done and I happen to LOVE bobcats, I chose this post to do a re-blog on Sharon's behalf.

These are amazing creatures and we (man) has so encroached on their territory as to seriously endanger their survival. Don't ever try to feed them or leave water for them. If you are lucky enough to encounter one, just safely enjoy the view!

bobcat in cactus Here in the desert, we have quite different wildlife than most of the U.S.

These photos and story were forwarded to me today; just AMAZING!!!  Enjoy!

Several of us received an email from a neighbor and friend, Linda Shank, containing a cell phone shot of a bobcat on top of a saguaro that she spotted near her home in Gold Canyon , Arizona.

Luckily, one of the people she contacted is an accomplished photographer, Curt Fonger, also of Gold Canyon and he scored a set of pictures worthy of National Geographic.

az wildlife photosBobcats are a fairly common sight here, but more likely roaming the washes, snoozing on our patios or gazing through our windows.

Reports are that Big Kitty eventually climbed back down... probably looking for some tweezers.  Rosemary

From Curt:  Yesterday morning - a friend called and informed me that a Mountain Lion had chased a Bobcat up a tall Saguaro and that it was still up there!!    So - with Camera and long lens - I dashed out and this was the result; a once in a life time "Kodak Moment." phoenix az wildlife photos

What a beautiful creature.  He was quite relaxed, at times napping - just waiting for an opportunity to come back down.  That Saguaro was 45- 50' in height.   I guess Mr. Mountain Lion didn't feel it was worth being "harpooned" by those long needles!

My question:  Do you call the fire department to rescue your "kitty" from up in this tree...?  ;)

Jon - THANKS for re-blogging!

We met with new clients in Troon last week (WAAYYYY N Scottsdale) and a bobcat meandered across their back patio.  No fear, just a little curious....

I've heard of an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth but a claw for a claw? Yikes! That not only looks painfull but also impossible. Once again, mother nature has not failed to impress me with her master piece works.

Great photos and thank you for posting.

OMG that is amazing.  I feel sorry for the poor kitty but I suppose he had a good reason for being there.
