My New Outside Blog: January 2012

As Neil Young said, "Here's some more trash for ya."

Charles continues to amaze me at the quality and variety of his blog posts. Water that turns color based on the temperature? I no longer will ask Charles "What's new?"

I can actually see a "safety" ad pitch on this device, if the colors are clear enough. If the color is red, be careful!

I always find it a little bit disconcerting when I find something on an inspection I have never seen before.

I am not talking about the infinite ways that homeowners and home repairers/builders find to screw things up, or make odd-ball things out of ordinary home components.

I am talking about entirely new mousetraps, or the entirely new ideas, that are not an attempt to make anything better---they are just things in their own right.

At a recent inspection I saw what is perhaps one of the most interesting things that I have never seen before or even heard of.  The fact that it was clearly something that someone purchased somewhere, leads me to belief that surely "someone" else has seen these things.  They have just never shown up on my radar.  In fact, according to one website I checked out, at least 332,000 people have "liked" the device to their facebook page.  I am clearly out of the loop on this one.

Here is a short video clip of the device.

This device, when you run the water powers a little light that makes the water glow blue when it is cold water and red when it is hot water.

While it is interesting I am not really sure if the device is any more than a novelty.  It sure was cool watching it change colors in the dark though.  It might be useful to people that have lost there sense of touch---or dare I say for those that are out of touch?

For $19.00 how can one go wrong?
